বৈজ্ঞানিক তথ্য, সার্বজনীন সত্য বা সবসময় সত্য যে শর্ত-ফলাফল প্রকাশ করতে Zero Conditional ব্যবহার হয়।
Conditionals (শর্তবাচক বাক্য) হলো এমন বাক্য যা একটি শর্ত এবং সেই শর্তের ফলাফল প্রকাশ করে। ইংরেজিতে পাঁচটি প্রধান Conditional আছে। If clause (শর্ত) ও Main clause (ফলাফল) — এই দুটি অংশ মিলে Conditional বাক্য তৈরি হয়।

Zero Conditional
সার্বজনীন সত্য
If + Present, Present. চিরসত্য বা বৈজ্ঞানিক তথ্য।
First Conditional
বাস্তব সম্ভাবনা
If + Present, will + V1. সত্যিকার ভবিষ্যৎ সম্ভাবনা।
Second Conditional
অবাস্তব বর্তমান
If + Past, would + V1. কল্পনা বা অসম্ভব বর্তমান।
Third Conditional
অতীতের পরিবর্তন
If + had + V3, would have + V3. অতীতের ঘটনা পরিবর্তন হলে।
Mixed Conditional
মিশ্র শর্ত
If + had + V3, would + V1. অতীতের শর্ত, বর্তমান ফলাফল।

Zero Conditional-এ 'if' = 'when': "If you heat water, it boils." = "When you heat water, it boils." — একই অর্থ।
First Conditional — বাস্তব ভবিষ্যৎ সম্ভাবনা
গঠন
If + Subject + Present Simple, Subject + will + V1
ভবিষ্যতে সত্যিই ঘটতে পারে এমন শর্ত-ফলাফল বোঝাতে First Conditional ব্যবহার হয়।

will-এর পরিবর্তে অন্য Modal: First Conditional-এ ফলাফলে can/may/might/should/must ও ব্যবহার হতে পারে। "If you study, you can pass." / "If she comes, we may start."
Second ও Third Conditional
Second Conditional — অবাস্তব বর্তমান কল্পনা
গঠন
If + Subject + Past Simple, Subject + would + V1
বর্তমানে যা সত্য নয় বা ভবিষ্যতে হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা নেই — এমন কল্পনা বোঝাতে Second Conditional ব্যবহার হয়। 'be' Verb-এ সব Person-এ 'were' ব্যবহার হয় (Subjunctive Mood)।

If + Subject + had + V3, Subject + would have + V3
অতীতে যা ঘটেছে তার বিপরীত কল্পনা বোঝাতে Third Conditional ব্যবহার হয়। এটি সবসময় অতীতে ঘটা বাস্তবের বিপরীত।

UNLESS — 'if not'-এর বিকল্প
unless = if…not। Unless সবসময় negative অর্থ বহন করে, তাই Unless-এর clause-এ not ব্যবহার করা যায় না।

If Clause-এ 'will' ব্যবহার হয় না:
✗ "If it will rain, I will stay home." → ✓ "If it rains, I will stay home."
✗ "If he would come, I would help." → ✓ "If he came, I would help."
তবে polite request-এ চলে: "If you will wait here, I'll get the manager."
