Article মূলত Adjective-এর একটি বিশেষ শ্রেণী যা Noun-কে বিশেষিত করে। তিনটি Article এবং তাদের মূল পার্থক্য:
Article (আর্টিকেল) হলো Noun-এর আগে বসে তাকে নির্দিষ্ট বা অনির্দিষ্ট করে তোলা একটি বিশেষ শব্দ। ইংরেজিতে মাত্র তিনটি Article আছে: a, an (Indefinite Article) এবং the (Definite Article)। সঠিক Article ব্যবহার না জানলে ইংরেজি বাক্য সম্পূর্ণ ভুল শোনায়।

নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু বোঝায়। বক্তা ও শ্রোতা উভয়েই জানেন কোনটির কথা বলা হচ্ছে।
মূল পার্থক্য উদাহরণে:
- "I want a book." → যেকোনো একটি বই, কোনটি তা অজানা
- "I want the book." → নির্দিষ্ট একটি বই যা আগে থেকে পরিচিত
A এবং AN — Indefinite Articles
সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নিয়ম: A এবং AN নির্ভর করে পরবর্তী শব্দের উচ্চারণ (sound)-এর উপর — বানানের উপর নয়।

THE — Definite Article
The ব্যবহার হয় যখন বক্তা এবং শ্রোতা উভয়েই জানেন ঠিক কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর কথা বলা হচ্ছে — এটি সেই Noun-কে নির্দিষ্ট করে তোলে।
উচ্চারণ: Consonant sound-এর আগে "দ্য" (thuh), Vowel sound-এর আগে "দি" (thee)।

Zero Article — কোথায় কোনো Article ব্যবহার হয় না
কিছু ক্ষেত্রে কোনো Article ব্যবহার করতে হয় না — এটিকে Zero Article বলে।

এই বিশেষ স্থানগুলোতে Article-এর ব্যবহার নির্ভর করে উদ্দেশ্যের উপর:
- নিজস্ব উদ্দেশ্যে (কোনো Article নেই): "She goes to school." (পড়তে) / "He is in hospital." (রোগী হিসেবে) / "They went to church." (উপাসনায়)
- অন্য উদ্দেশ্যে (the ব্যবহার): "I went to the school to meet the teacher." (দর্শনার্থী হিসেবে) / "She visited him at the hospital." (ভিজিটর হিসেবে)
Home, bed, work: এগুলোর আগে Article ব্যবহার হয় না সাধারণত। "I go to bed at 10." / "She is at home." / "He left for work." কিন্তু নির্দিষ্ট অর্থে: "She went to the bed in the corner." (নির্দিষ্ট বিছানা)
